Why Tradies All Of a Sudden Have Stopped Wanting toHacksaw Their Feet & Legs OffAt The End of The Week!

By FinnPerth, WA

I don’t know about you, but there would actually be days when I would come home and consider just chopping off my both legs, feet, quads, everything, from the torso down (actually, maybe not my balls)… I mean, after 8-10 hours on site, sometimes for 6 or 7 days, EVERY SINGLE WEEK, it’s safe to say that the word “aching” doesn’t even begin to describe how my legs felt!

★★★★★
10,000+Reddit discussions agreeing that the leg/foot aching after a long shift can be "unbearable" and "feel like glass"

True story… me and some of the boys from work used to all take short trips to Bali just to get that incredible, cheap, balinese full body massage (get your head out of the gutter mate, no happy endings in this story…) And admittedly, those trips would also usually turn into benders, but WOW, I would always look forward to that incredible leg, foot and back massage. It’s like they were working magic on my aching, sore body after so much strain and constant pressure from working.

As nice as the Bali trips are, you, me and everyone alive has bills to pay and I’m sure can’t afford to or don’t have enough time off to take these Bali trips every single time your legs get sore (which at that point would mean every night! At least for me).

So I started looking around for good massage spots in Perth (where I work).

Now honestly, there are some decent enough places you can find, but here’s the fun part, check your bank account after that massage. At those prices you may as well go on a weekly Bali bender instead, it was total daylight robbery.

Point is, all the lads at work agreed, and not a single one did anything to try relieve the pain… “I kind of just sleep it off,” “just have 10 pints, she’ll be right,” all extremely solid tradie math. But I don’t know, call me a big wus or a b*tch but honestly, it was really bothering me. There had to be some cheap, effective thing I could do every night to get at least some degree of relief from the constant throbbing, aching pain my legs and feet would torture me with after a long day or week of work.

So I thought a good place to start would be researching what athletes are using. I mean the only other careers I could think of that bash up their legs more than us tradies are athletes… long distance runners, fighters, footy players, etc. I’m sure they must have some type of secret potion they use to stop the aching, leg cramps and pains, right?

Before I explain what I found and have been using ever since (for the last 2 years now), to make these long shifts more bearable on my legs and feet. I first want to explain the disgusting and somewhat graphic reason why your legs are actually aching in the first place…

After a long day of standing still, walking around and just constant, strenuous use of your legs. All the blood and fluids rush down, pool up and get stored in your lower leg/foot region. This causes edema (fancy big boy word for swelling and that throbbing sensation you get). Now not only is this uncomfortable, it also leads to blood clotting and things like deep vein thrombosis (google it, it’s not pretty) from all that excess gunk, blood and fluid buildup that pools in your legs and feet.

This is why Doctors will commonly tell you to elevate your feet if they’re swollen, it’s literally to allow the body to redistribute all this blood and fluids, back evenly throughout your legs and dispose of any unhealthy, excess gunk safely. And don’t get me wrong, doing this for about 3 hours a day does definitely work and feels great.

But I don’t know about you, but I’m not a fan of spending 3 hours every afternoon, sat on the couch with my legs above my head like Bonnie Blue or some submissive stripper waiting for “my legs to finish.” I thought there has to be something I can chuck on while watching Netflix and just let it work its magic.

And magic is exactly what I found! Okay maybe I am easily impressed, I do mostly run on 50 red bulls and beer, so I’m not hard to please). Point is I found what I was looking for, it’s kinda lame, exceptionally boring but painfully effective. My God did it work miracles at helping me with the aching after a long shift!

My big secret? Well what if I told you there was something you could just slip on (starting to sound like im gonna give you a condom or something), something that is ‘The Most Commonly Used’ remedy for sore legs in the running community, something that is SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN to increase blood flow and circulation, allowing the blood and fluids to pump back healthily through your body rather than pooling up in your feet and legs. Speeding up the removal of metabolic waste (fancy word for the nasty gunk and fluids that cause the throbbing and aching). Not only blessing you with daily pain relief but also MEDICALLY CERTIFIED as an effective way to prevent those nasty blood clots and deep vein thrombosis in the future, talk about a Win, win!

Okay, I’ve kept you all on the edge of your seat long enough, by now I’m sure you’ve already blocked the missus, texted the boys group chat and booked yourself a $1,000 all inclusive trip to Bali with the boys (don’t blame you).

But the thing I have been using is much cheaper… they’re compression socks… more specifically the pair from Avero. They are an incredible company that crafted a pair specifically tailored for tradesmen and hard-working, working-class men like you and me. A pair that just gets the job done.

You may have seen them using these like crazy at old peoples homes because of how effective they are at forcing natural blood circulation back into your legs. You literally just slip the socks on, leave them on for 2-3 hours while you make dinner, watch a film with the missus, or whatever else you do in the arvos, and that’s it! Bob’s your uncle.

Now just watch HOW MUCH better your legs will feel, it’s like if someone created a hangover cure that let you drink a carton and show up to work unfazed the next day, that’s how these socks feel but for your legs!

Thought compression socks were for runners or old blokes. That was honestly why I nearly didn’t buy them. I’m on site all day, not running marathons. Wore them for a full week and my legs felt nowhere near as heavy by knock-off. I get why people wear these now.

Was worried they’d be way too hot under my boots. I work outside and my steel caps are already bloody warm, so heat was my biggest concern. They’ve actually been fine through a full shift and don’t feel bulky at all. I’d take the extra support over normal socks any day.

They actually sit properly under steel caps. No bunching around the ankle, no sliding down my calf and no weird pressure points inside the boot. Put them on before work and pretty much forget they’re there until I take the boots off.

I didn’t think a pair of socks would make much difference. I was pretty sceptical because, end of the day, they’re socks. But after a few 10-hour shifts I noticed I wasn’t getting home and immediately rubbing my calves like I normally do. My legs still know I’ve worked, they just don’t feel as wrecked.

Best part is how I feel after knock-off. Normally the boots come off and my legs are still throbbing for half the night. These have made the biggest difference once I’m home, way less of that heavy, cooked feeling through my calves and ankles.

Good for 12-hour FIFO shifts. I’m doing 12s and by the back end of a swing my feet and calves are normally absolutely knackered. Started wearing these from the start of shift and I’m recovering a lot better between days. Wish I’d tried them earlier.

I’d already spent a fortune on boots and insoles. I’ve tried better boots, different insoles and all the usual stuff. They helped a bit, but my legs still felt flogged at the end of the day. Adding these was the first time I noticed a real difference through the whole lower leg.

Snug, but not stupidly tight. I thought compression meant they’d feel like they were cutting the blood off. They’re definitely firm around the ankle and calf, but once they’re on they’re actually comfortable. Took me one shift to get used to them.

My ankles aren’t nearly as puffy by the end of the day. After long days on concrete my ankles normally feel tight and heavy when the boots come off. Since wearing these they feel a lot better at knock-off and my calves don’t feel as full and cooked.

The carton guarantee got me over the line. I wasn’t convinced, but the guarantee made it a pretty easy decision, worst case I get my money back and apparently a carton. Haven’t needed to use it. Been wearing the socks every shift since.

Maybe by now you’re wondering who tf I am and why I’ve just written this novel about this company Avero. Fair question (and writing this has been more fun than I thought). Well my name is Finn (or Finno if you know me), and I am the founder of Avero. As I’m getting older (in age but not in spirit!) I wanted to start a company that really helped me and I know will help other tradies, who maybe weren’t thinking about or just overlooked the nasty future problems they may face or just decide to “soldier on” instead of looking for ways of reliving the nagging pains associated with such a hard days work.

Right now I still do some contract work here and there, but truth is my body is tired and I would love to be able to run this company full time instead! I would love to be able to really help tradies avoid some of the health complications and pains I faced after working so hard for so long. Especially the younger guys who think their bodies are invincible… Just wait till your late 30’s!

Anyway, in light of this exciting new journey and as a thank you to anyone who read this far, I’m allowing everyone to test out my new Avero Tradesmen Compression Socks for a whole month on site, completely risk free!

The 30 day promise

Why? Well these are the same socks I have been using for the last 2 years, not a shift goes by where I don’t look forward to putting them on after work! And so, if after wearing them for 30 days, after those long, strenuous, shifts, you don’t genuinely feel any relief whatsoever, I’ll let you keep the socks, refund you the full amount you paid for them AND on top of that I will buy you a carton of your favourite beer just as an apology for wasting your time.

BUT… If you love the socks and they do work miracles for you, like they have for me, my mates at work and the several athletes around the world that use compression socks to help speed up recovery. Then all I ask is that you tell all your friends on site about them and send them all my way, deal?

So if you would like to relieve that annoying, constant, throbbing, aching sensation in your feet and legs… I’ll leave the link to the Avero Tradesmen Compression Socks below!
